OK so this weekend my company is holding a conference that I could not attend.

I know why they emphasize attending conferences, but that is one of my peeves about MLM. That if you don’t go to all of, or most of the conferences, you’re not serious.

Pishaw! Maybe instead it means that the MLM company is the one who is not serious - not serious about growth.

Huh?? Read on…

Here is some info that every MLM CEO needs to know. The Direct Selling Associations statistics say that 82% of new network marketing distributors are women. And about 87% of all distributors are working the business part-time.

So I ask you, who are the primary care-givers of the children of the world?

Answer: Women.

So if a woman with children starts a network marketing business and is told straight away that to be successful, you must attend the conferences, don’t cha think that is going to take a bit of wind out of her sails?

I do, because being a woman and mother, I have experienced this in the past.

These days I just let them say what they want, because I know how serious I am. I know that whether or not I am able to attend a conference doesn’t determine my level of seriousness as a business person. The truth is, no one has any sure-fire way of knowing that about another person anyway.

Here’s the part CEOs might wish to make note of that could greatly increase the botom line: 82% of new distributors are women working the business part-time.

So when are they going to wise-up and start catering to the majority? I wonder…

Catering their business opportunity more to the majority would help lower the MLM failure/drop-out rates that currently hover around 95% if not higher. Doesn’t that just make sense? If your biggest customer has certain needs wouldn’t you bend over backwards to figure out how to keep their business, or in the case of MLM keep them in business? (I am not implying that all who drop out are women with children, BTW.)

Here’s what I would like to see every network marketing company do, and especially the one I represent, ITV Ventures in Beverly, MA. (which is just 2 hours away from my home, but I cant just drop everything and go to their planned events, because I have no one to care for my children).

I would like to see them start offering a special event every month or so for women reps to come - with their children and other mom-prospects who otherwise would have to pass - to tour the facility and have a special event/training. They would have pre-arranged secure, on-premises child-care so that the moms would be able to participate fully, knowing that their children are being well cared-for nearby. (dads, too in the case of stay-at-home-dads)

And it would begin in the morning, rather than at night. I was going to say for obvious reasons, but maybe it isn’t so obvious to all that it is wiser to gather many children together when they are still fresh, rather than at the end of the day…oh and and absolutely no highly processed, chemical-laden junk food that so many people think is fine for kids to eat every day. (See my organic foods mom website for more)

Would this flow as smoothly as a child-free event? Doubtful, lol! But isn’t it time we accept the facts that there are more women than men in MLM, and act accordingly?

I think so.

What do you think? What ideas do you have for your MLM CEO, that would help you, as a WAHM or SAHM to build your network marketing business?

If you’re a man reading this, what might you do or say differently to the next woman you prospect and/or sponsor?

~~~
PS All the above said, I do know the inspirational/motivational value of conventions, and would be there if I could. I appreciate that my sponsor is holding a teleconference tonight to bring those of us who could not attend up to speed.
