Not a Home Party Gal

I was never one for home parties. I was the person that would find every excuse in the book NOT to go to a home party. Yet somehow I found myself in a home party business, selling kitchen products (this coming from someone who does NOT like public speaking!).

I was mildly successful, and it helped that the product really did sell itself. I wasn’t going to retire from my Full-Time job with this MLM business, which was fine. I was really just looking to make a little bit of extra spending money.

All that changed with the birth of my first child. Going back to work after my maternity leave was heart-wrenching. My husband stayed home with my son for my first day back, and my son screamed the entire day I was gone.

I started looking for something that I could do from home – truly from home, not traveling around with all kinds of product samples and trying to sell products that people could buy for much less elsewhere. I tried doing one party when my son was about 8 months old and it was just too much for me. I was exhausted, and I was already spending enough time away from him with that Full-Time job of mine.

At first I thought that a home job was the way to go….until I found that that doesn’t really exist unless you are a (really good) computer programmer or a writer. I sifted through scam after scam after scam. I also thought that home based businesses were for people doing home parties or for people that had their own niche (and huge overhead costs).

Finally I came across Ameriplan, a company where I work completely from home (even the training!) and a service that I could actually get myself behind – discount health benefits.

Approximately 70% of Americans are uninsured or underinsured. Our nation is in a health care crisis right now. On top of that, approximately 90% of Americans are looking to fire their bosses and work from home. Do I have something that can fulfill those needs? Absolutely!

I am happy to say that I am now a full-time mother to my son, and working my business around our schedule. My team is growing in leaps and bounds, and that is due in large part to the amazing support and training that we have.

It is my belief that Network Marketing doesn’t only refer to the act of “networking” to find your customers/business builders. The “Network” in Network Marketing also very much refers to the group of people that you have pulling for you and supporting you.

Coming from the Corporate world, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of idea-sharing that goes around, as well as the genuine desire to see the people around you to succeed.
